When it comes to worship there are a lot of opinions out there and usually very strong ones. There are only a handful of people that I feel I’m really on the same page with on topics like creativity, leadership and corporate worship. One of them is leading worship in Chicago at a new church plant called The Painted Door. As we hung out this weekend and shared our observations on recent “modern worship” trends, leadership styles and our opinions of them, I’m reminded how important these “iron-sharpening-iron” friendships are.

I love having people in my life that challenge and encourage me to stay sharp and not get comfortable in the routine of leading the same way with the same material.

If you are a leader make sure you have someone to sharpen you.

The Painted Door has a great vision and leadership for worship in the city. If you are looking for a church in Chicago you should definitely check it out.
